Jakob Kisser is the managing director of the UAE office of Strohal Legal since 2019. He advises commercial and private clients on national and international business law matters with a focus on corporate/M&A and real estate projects, commercial agreements, company establishments, investments and relocation services.
After his law studies in Vienna and Maastricht, he practiced business law for 20 years at international law firms in Austria, including Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, and Schoenherr. He was admitted as attorney-at-law to the Austrian bar from 2009-2020.
Jakob was involved in high-profile M&A transactions in Austria, including inter alia the divestments of four retail banks by the Austrian Volksbanken group, the restructuring of Nortel Networks and private equity investments into Themis Bioscience. In his function as Knowledge Director & Compliance Director at Schoenherr, he worked on the modernization of firm-wide structures by establishing a compliance management system, a knowledge management department, and the firm's "junior academy" - a talent pool whose graduates guaranteed the continuous and successful renewal of the lawyer team in Vienna.
Jakob is the author of numerous academic publications such as the LexisNexis handbooks on Current Trends in Start-ups & Crowdfunding, Form Requirements & Legalization, and Letters of Comfort. Jakob is a regular lecturer at the UAE business councils and the Austrian Attorneys Academy (Anwaltsakademie).
Last but not least, Jakob's passion for sports has led him to numerous finishes at Ironman triathlons, marathons and multi-stage mountain bike races as well as summiting the Baruntse in the Nepal Himalayans at over 7000m.
