Jakob Kisser is the managing partner of the UAE office of Strohal Legal. He is a business-focused lawyer and advises commercial and private clients on M&A projects, corporate law matters, and all aspects of business ventures and investments in the UAE. Jakob has practical business experience as a board member of a number of private foundations and corporations.

He practiced business law for 20 years at international law firms in Austria, including Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, and Schoenherr, and was admitted as attorney-at-law to the Austrian bar from 2009-2020.

Jakob was involved in high-profile M&A transactions in the UAE, and in Austria, including inter alia the divestments of four retail banks by the Austrian Volksbanken group, the restructuring of Nortel Networks and private equity investments into Themis Bioscience. In his function as Knowledge Director & Compliance Director at Schoenherr, he worked on the modernization of firm-wide structures by establishing a compliance management system, a knowledge management department, and the firm's "junior academy".

Jakob is the author of numerous academic publications such as the LexisNexis handbooks on Current Trends in Start-ups & Crowdfunding, Form Requirements & Legalization (Best Practice Formvorschriften und Beglaubigungen), and Letters of Comfort (Best Practice Patronatserklärung). He is a regular lecturer at the UAE business councils and the Austrian Attorneys Academy (Anwaltsakademie).

Last but not least, Jakob's passion for sports has led him to numerous finishes at Ironman triathlons, marathons and multi-stage mountain bike races as well as summiting the Baruntse in the Nepal Himalayans at over 7000m.
